Jacob Shockman, 8, of Berlin, North Dakota, died Sunday, April 22, 2012.

Jacob was born December 2, 2003 to Peter and Joan (Lebus) Shockman.

Jacob, at a young age, had many, many dreams. He dreamed of being a Bison football player, a farmer and a pilot – following his father’s and brothers’ footsteps. His plan was to live at the farm in Berlin “forever”.

Jacob loved to play, and he also loved to work. He was known to “play like a kid, but worked as hard as any man.” He loved the outdoors, and loved to play with his dog, Kodiak.

Jacob also loved and excelled at sports – basketball, soccer, wrestling, baseball, football. He loved carpet farming, and Lego building.

And when not playing, he attended school at LaMoure. He was in the 2nd grade. He loved his classmates and teachers.

And what kid wouldn’t love candy…which Jacob loved also.

But most of all he loved his mom and dad, he loved his big brothers, and he was the best uncle to his two nephews. He was cherished by his grandparents. His smile could light up anyone, and did, and will be so deeply missed.

Jacob is survived by his family: parents, Peter and Joan; three brothers, Josh (Trista) Shockman, Jonathan Shockman, and James Shockman; two nephews, Maddux and Crosby; and his grandparents, Grandma Marjorie Shockman and Grandma Barbra Lebus; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Orville Shockman and Dallas Lebus; and an uncle, Bill Quant.

Jacob was the greatest gift that God could have ever given this whole family. We love you so much and miss you so very much.
