VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – An early snow storm hit eastern North Dakota hard on October 10th.
National Weather Service forecaster Vince Godin said more than a foot of snow fell in many areas of eastern North Dakota from Valley City to Finley. 17 inches reported in Finely, 16 plus in Hannaford and 13 inches in Valley City.
The heavy wet snow caused headaches for semi drivers and other motorists along I-94 in Valley City.
Barnes County Chief Deputy Don Fiebiger said traffic was backed up for more nearly 3 miles in the west bound lane in Valley City. He said truckers had to put chains on their tires to get up the hill just west of exit 290.
Public works crews in Valley City were busy clearing and sanding 8th Avenue Southwest in Valley City.
There was a report of one vehicle that slid off a city street in Valley City and ended up in a ditch along 12th Avenue Southeast.
Several trees and limb got knocked down due to the heavy wet snow.
Rural Firefighters responded to a tow truck on fire near Hobart Lake along old Highway 10 west of Valley City.
