Peterson, age 90, of Oakes, ND, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes, ND.

Anna Mary Brandel, daughter of Benedict and Mary (Bohnenkamp) Brandel was born April 19, 1922 at Nicholson, North Dakota. She grew up in the Straubville and Stirum, North Dakota area, before moving with her family to Englevale, North Dakota. She was united in marriage to Moses Peterson on July 7, 1950 at Britton, South Dakota. They made their home in Oakes, and farmed in the Englevale and Verona area until retiring in 1965. Anna cooked at local restaurants and was also employed at Shafer Seed in Oakes. Moses passed away April 9, 1993. Anna entered the Good Samaritan Society on February 27, 2009. She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family. Anna was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

She is survived by four sons, Allen (Lisa) Peterson, Ellendale, ND, Curtis (Cindy) Peterson, Bismarck, ND, Raymond (Jeanine) Peterson, Aberdeen, SD, and LeRoy Peterson, St. Paul, MN; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Anna is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Moses, and an infant sister, Irene.

Anna’s funeral will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Oakes, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes, ND. Burial will be at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery near Oakes.
