Coach’s Comments

Grand Forks Central is the number one seed for a reason.  They are very solid with their strokes, decision making, and mental resolve on the court.  We played them very tough.

Bennett and Derek both played amazing matches.  They were dictating points.  They were hitting their spots.  They played unafraid and went for their spots.  Great job.

Kai and Seth played in their first EDC tournament.  Kai played against a heavy hitter with a lot of topspin.  It was a learning curve, but he figured it out and played him tough in the second set.  Austin and Seth played tough as well.  This experience for our up and comers was invaluable.

Jack and Collin were ripping the cover off the ball.  They attacked and believed.  Those two from Central are a state championship contender and played them straight up.  We have to play with this mentality to give a shot to state qualify in individuals.

We rested Blake in the first round to give us the best shot at winning the second round.  That strategy worked with Blake as he was able to defeat a top 5 player in the region in his singles match.  We also rested Hale and he and Austin played some very good doubles, losing in three sets.

We had the line-up set that we had to win #1 singles and both doubles, but Davies proved too tough today.  With that loss, it ends our team season.  The individuals tournament will be Friday and Saturday at Courts Plus in Fargo.
