BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – About 500 people including 90 dentists and hundreds of dental assistance from around the state volunteered their time to provide free dental care to some 900 North Dakotans during the Dental Mission of Mercy (known as M.O.M) event held September 28th and 29th at the Bismarck Event center.
Bridge City Dentistry’s Caron Berg of Valley City is the past President of the North Dakota Dental Association. She said a number of states hold events like this, but this was the first time in North Dakota. Berg said fifty chairs were brought in for patient treatment. She said the mission is intended to help those in need get care that they otherwise couldn’t afford.
Volunteer dentist Wayne Christianson said, “When you give somebody a smile that hasn’t had one in 10 years or more there are tears and hugs. That’s a M.O.M. moment and it’s the one you remember.”
Caron Berg talked about her M.O.M moment and during the Mission of Mercy free dental care held event in Bismarck with reporter Steve Urness.
