JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown will induct its 14th President on Thursday, September 27th.

Dr. Polly Peterson will officially be inaugurated as the first female president of the University in an event open to the public. Peterson was tapped to succeed President Robert Badal after he retired in February 2018. She is the first female president in the University’s 134-year history.

Assistant to the President Erin Klein says a week of things will be held leading up to the inauguration.

Senior Vice President for Public Relations and Marketing Tena Lawrence says Dr. Peterson will also be part of a panel on Wednesday at the Jamestown High School.

Several other panels and tours will be held leading up to the inauguration on Thursday that week. Klein says they’ll have tours of the campus all day.

Following those will be the inauguration at the Harold Newman Arena starting at 2 PM.

Lawrence says the events planned are to show the involvement the University has with the community.
