Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Junior quarterback Seth Nelson completed all six of his pass attempts for 184 yards and 4 touchdowns to help aid the Carrington Cardinals to a 56-6 homecoming victory over the Bottineau Braves.
The Cardinals took command of the game early, scoring 30 first quarter points. The Cardinals took a 50-0 lead into the halftime intermission and outgained the Braves 320 yards to 35 yards in the first half. Carrington finished the game with 412 total yards of offense. Junior RB Chase Ellingson had 11 carries for 84 yards and scored 3 touchdowns.
Ellingson, the leading rusher in the game took over the primary running back spot for the Cardinals when starter Drew Page (4 carries for 19 yards and a TD) left the game with an injury. Trey Rosenau hauled in the receptions for 55 yards and 2 touchdowns. Payton Smith also had 2 catches for 81 yards and a score. McCoy VandeHoven had 1 catch good for a 48 yard TD as well.
Bottineau scored midway through the 3rd quarter, the first points of the year allowed by the Cardinals. Carrington improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in Region 2 play.
Bottineau dropped to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in Region 2 play. Carrington will travel to Rugby next Friday night. Kickoff will be at 7:00 P.M. and the pregame will start at 6:30 on AM 1600 KDAK (THE CARDINAL) and NewsDakota.com.
