Coach’s Comments

Wow – we had some very tight matches today.  We had four 3-set matches and a total of 5 tiebreakers.  These matches were determined by a point here or there.

The craziest match goes to Derek where he lost in a tiebreaker in the first set and then bagelled his opponent in the second set.  He followed that up by going to a tiebreak in the third set before winning the match.

The craziest tiebreaker goes to Austin where he saved several match points.  He finally put the set away on a winner forehand taking the tiebreaker a whopping 13-11.

Austin and Collin also played some aggressive, solid doubles together winning the match in a business like 3 and 2.  Blake found a rhythm in singles and played a high level of tennis for a long time.  It was really fun to watch him operate!

We are very close to turning a corner.  Bennett and Hale were one point away from 6-6 in the second set and forcing a tiebreaker.  Jack and Blake had set points in the first set.  Austin had a deuce to make it 2-2 in the third set, but instead the score went to 3-1.  Blake, Collin, and Austin all dropped the first set, won the second set, then lost in the third set.  The match was determined by a point here or there.  We are so close.  We have only one day of practice – tomorrow – to figure it out as we have Davies home on Thursday, Mandan home on Friday, and the West Fargo Invite on Saturday.  We can do it!
