FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – A Cooperstown man arrested for the weekend stabbing death of 23 year-old Jakob Dirks of West Fargo has been released from jail. Dirks was stabbed at a Fargo hotel.

Police now say their initial suspect, Alan Bear was defending himself. They say Dirks and 22 year-old Robert Peightal of Fargo and 19 year-old Jordan Plouffe of Fargo were planning to rob Alan Bear and his brother when Bear stabbed Dirks during a fight in a hotel room.

Peightal and Plouffe are not facing charges in the death of Dirks. They are facing robbery and terrorizing conspiracy charges stemming from this incident.
