CITY (NewsDakota.com)–The Hi-Liner girls and Northern Cass Jaguar boys took title honors at the Barnes County Invitational Track and Field meet in Valley City yesterday.
The Hi-Liner girls scored 183 points, comfortably ahead of LaMoure-Litchville-Marion’s 88. Barnes County North scored 77, and Griggs County Central scored 72 points.
Valley City won six individual championships, with Molly Willson capturing two. She took the top spot in the 100-meter dash (12.75) and the 200-meter dash (26.65). Ruth Ihry won the 400-meter dash (1:08.75), Allyson Suhr won the 3200-meter run (12:27.75), Annie Hart won the pole vault (7′ 0″), and the Hi-Liners won the 3200-meter relay (10:40.40).
Barnes County North won three titles. Tess Scott took the 1600-meter run (5:54.47), and SaraLi Peterson won the 100-meter hurdles (17.55), and the long jump (16′ 5″).
Sadie Cochrane won both of LaMoure-L-M’s championships, winning the 800-meter run (2:42.15) and the triple jump (33′ 3.5″). Griggs County Central won two titles, with Jadin Carlson winning the 300-meter hurdles (54.84) and Shaleen Helmer taking the discus throw (115′ 10″).
Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page won the 800-meter relay (2:25.35) and the Spartans Becca Erickson won the javelin throw (116′ 3″). Kelsey Laufenberg won the lone title for Maple Valley-Enderlin, taking the shot put (39′ 2.5″).
In the boys division, the Jaguars scored 130 points, edging Griggs County Central for the title by six points. Barnes County North was third with 89, two ahead of Maple Valley-Enderlin’s 87. Valley City was fifth with 77 points.
Griggs County Central was the team runner-up despite seven titles. Carter Anderson won the 400-meter dash (56.50) and the triple jump (36′ 8″). Justin Hanson won the shot put (41′ 7’5″) and the discus (120′ 7″). Tim Clifton won the 3200-meter run (11:55.68), and the Cougars wont he 1600-meter (4:05. 84) and 3200-meter (9:56.02) relays.
Maple Valley-Enderlin won five titles. Jesse Beilke took both short sprints, winning the 100-meter dash (11.30) and the 200-meter dash (23.72). Levi Berntson won the 800-meter run (2:13.78), James Richman won the high jump (5′ 6″), and the Falcons won the 800-meter relay (1:37.36).
Barnes County North took home three titles. Cody Christ won the 1600-meter run (5:03.85), Wyatt Steckler won the long jump (19′ 9″) and David Undem won the javelin (125′ 9″). Northern Cass then followed with two titles. TJ Hochstetler won the 110-meter hurdles (17.96) and the Jaguars won the 400-meter relay (47.30).
LaMoure-L-M and Valley City each one one event. Brent Hebl won the 300-meter hurdles (46.03) for the Loboes, and Paul Viland won the pole vault (11′ 0″) for the Hi-Liners.
