CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Hi-Liner softball team dropped a heartbreaker to Fargo North, losing 8-7 at North yesterday.

Valley City had a 7-6 lead entering the bottom of the seventh against a Spartan team that has yet to give up  a league loss.  The Spartans scratched out two runs in the seventh for the win.

The Hi-Liners were held to just four hits in the game.  Jessica Denholm had two of them, scoring twice and driving in a run.

Keely Fogarty took the loss, allowing five earned runs on 10 hits, striking out six and walking for.  Two errors in the outfield and a critical error in the infield led to the loss.

Valley City will play in a tournament in Frazee, MN, this Saturday.
