VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The Hi-Liners made the most of their first match at The HAC Tuesday night; they needed just 3 set to beat Wahpeton for their 2nd EDC win of the season. They topped The Huskies 25-14, 25-15, 25-15.

In set 1, The Hi-Liners jumped to an early 4-0 advantage and didn’t let up in the win. Wahpeton battled to hang on in the final 2 games, especially in the final set when Valley City needed an 8-4 run to close out the match.

Head coach Mattie Cruff says overall she was happy with the team’s pace but was hoping for a stronger finish

 

The offense was led by Macy Olstad’s 12 kills, she also collected 15 digs. Josie Berntson had 8 kills, 18 assist and 3 blocks. Cali Halgrimson registered 5 kills, 13 digs and 3 blocks. Natalie Lemnus had 16 assist and a team high 3 aces. Grace Scherr paced the team with 25 digs.

Valley City is now 6-3 overall and 2-1 in The EDC. Wahpeton is 1-9 and 0-3 in the region. The Hi-Liners are back home Saturday against Grand Forks Central. Game time is 2:00pm; coverage on KOVC 1490 AM/96.3 FM and NewsDakota.com starts around 1:50.
