JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Moment of Freedom held their first ever Barn Dance fundraiser on August 25th and considered a massive success.

A Moment of Freedom is a non-profit organization located in Buchanan, North Dakota that is creating a horse-riding program for those with special needs.

The evening fundraiser featured music, food, and dancing to raise money to help the organization purchase the necessary materials to build their outdoor arena.

“We fed around 129 people,” Founder Annie Keffeler stated. “he next step is getting the panels up to build the arena which we are hoping to do so within the next month and we will also plant grass seed.”

Keffeler says they’ve also received tons of interest in donating horses for the program. She says their fundraising efforts are far from done.

“So we will start the sorting, testing and selecting process [of the horses] sometime. We will look at a tack storage shed and starting to really look at what we will need for special equipment. We need a wheelchair ramp that fits the American Disabilities Act specifications.”

Keffeler says they continue to shoot for a summer of 2019 opening for their program.
