JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Alfred Dickey Library has set Wednesday, September 12th as their reopening after a summer-long closure for renovations.
Development Director Bill Kennedy stated earlier this year that the foundation would be excavated and waterproofed and the interior would be painted and carpeted.
“The work to renovate ADPL is part of the library board’s Centennial Initiative, which is a plan to preserve the historic building and modernize the aesthetics of the interior in honor of the first century of service for the library,” Kennedy stated in May.
Renovations hit a snag in July when it was found that deterioration was far more substantial than originally thought, raising the original cost of $500,000 to around $600,000.
An open house on September 12th will run from 10 AM to 5 PM for public service.
Staff, library board members, and Friends of the Library will be available to answer questions about the renovations and future projects as the library prepares for the Centennial Celebration in February 2019.
