JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Horns have been sounding most summer in Jamestown after an accident damaged the quiet zone on main street.
A distracted driver struck the pedestrian maze next to the railroad tracks on June 25th. Because of this, trains have been required to sound their horns when coming through Jamestown for safety purposes. Trains had been running without horns through the community since 2011.
During a Public Works Committee meeting, City Administator Sarah Helleckson reported that they estimated the maze to be repaired Friday, August 31st.
Street Foreman Harold Sad reported that the original installers of the maze don’t work for the company that first built them in 2011 anymore, delaying the project slightly.
Once complete, trains will refrain from sounding their horns.
