(NewsDakota)- The games that were originally scheduled to be played Sunday in Jamestown were finally played yesterday after two postponements. The result was more of the same for VCSU, who dropped the pair to Jamestown College by the same score of 7-2.
Its the 10th straight win for the Jimmies in 2012 and the 20th consecutive win over Valley City St. dating back to April 16, 2008.
Nico Moreno’s 3-run blast in the 5th inning of Game 1 highlighted a 7-run inning for the Jimmies. It was Moreno’s 7th big fly of the season. The Vikings were leading 2-0 at that point, but starter Derek Zitzow ran into some problems in the 5th.
Jamestown College put 7 runs on the board with just one-out before Zitzow got Derek Wallace to ground into an inning-ending double play.
In Game 2, the Jimmies pounded out 12 hits to get seven runs. Six of those coming off Viking starter Taylor Nelson, who was pulled about 3.1. The VCSU bullpen held Jamestown College in check the rest of the way, but were unable to get a big inning of their own.
JC improves to 25-11-1 with the victories. The Vikings fall to 10-25.
Jamestown College will play today (Wednesday) against Morningside College in Redfield, SD. Morningside has beaten the Jimmies twice this season, 12-5 and 5-4.
You can catch a broadcast of Jimmie baseball on Saturday as the Jimmies battle the Dickinson St. Blue Hawks from Jack Brown Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 1pm and the pregame show will begin about 12:45pm. The game will be broadcasted on KQDJ-AM 1400 and streamed on NewsDakota.com.
