JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The United Way of Stutsman County will be kicking off this year’s campaign with POUND in the Park August 25th.

The United Way of Stutsman County is part of United Way Worldwide. This year, the group hopes to raise $200,000 for several local organizations including:

Alano Society, Boy Scouts – Northern Lights, Camp Rokiwan, Child Care Aware, Community Corrections, Girl Scouts – Dakota Horizons, Imagination Library, James River Transit, MOST/21st Cen. After School, PATH, Safe Shelter, Salvation Army, SANE/SART, Senior Companion Program, and The Arts Center.

Kevin Walker is a member of the United Way of Stutsman County.

Each year, the group hosts a kickoff event to start the fundraising. Lynette Stoddart says they decided on the new exercise POUND to start the process. She says 99% of all money the organization raises stays local.

Lyna Marquez is a POUND instructor at the Two Rivers Activity Center. She will be hosting one of the three sessions being held at the park.

Three community instructors with ties to TRAC and I WILL Fitness will be leading 45-minute sessions at 9, 10, and 11: 00 a.m. Registration is $10 per session.

T-shirts are an extra $10 and are available for pre-purchase or can be purchased at the event.
