LANGDON, N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  Four games took place at the American Legion Class B State Tournament on Wednesday at American Legion Field in Langdon. Here are the first day results:

Thompson 12  Renville County 2, 5 innings, 10-run rule

Carrington 3 Kidder County 2

Kidder County Post 231 would load the bases with only one out in the top of the seventh inning, after two hit batters and a single by lead-off man Kamen Schmidt. The next batter Parker Hager hit a fly-out to the left fielder scoring one run, then the runner at second base tried to take third after the ball was loose in the infield on the throw in, but was caught between second and third base on a rundown ending the game. Carrington Post 25 improves to 28-6 overall, KC drops to 16-15 overall.

Drew Page picked up the victory on the mound, working five and two-thirds, Lucas Geiszler worked an inning and a third in relief. Dillon Steinolfson took the loss, Jayden Rath worked four innings in relief after Steinolfson was hurt in the third inning and taken out of the game. Payton Smith was 2-for-2 at the plate with two singles and an RBI for Post 25.

Kidder County Post 231 at Carrington Post 25 _ 08_01_2018 _ Stats

Lamoure 6  Hillsboro/Central Valley 5

Shay Ness was 2-for-4 at the plate with two singles and an RBI, Jacob Ulmer had a single and a double and Mac Bierman hit a two RBI single to help Lamoure Post 19 defeat the Blue Sox of HCV. The Blue Sox scored one run in the top of the seventh inning to make the score 6-5, but would leave the tying run at second. Ulmer started for Post 19 and worked two and two-thirds innings and picked up the win, Ness worked in relief for four and a third innings. Dustin Beliles worked four innings for HVC and suffered the loss, Patrick Limke relieved him in the bottom of the fifth inning.
