STEELE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The LaMoure and Thompson Babe Ruth baseball teams will play Tuesday in a winner-take-all State Championship match after LaMoure won two games Monday to force a deciding contest.

In the first game, LaMoure sent the defending State Champions from Langdon home with a 2-1 victory. Rory Gentzkow went six and a third innings, striking out seven to earn the win, while Landon Piehl picked up the save with a perfect two-thirds of an inning. Tate Mart and James Sandness scored the runs in the fifth inning.

LaMoure forced a Tuesday game with a 3-1 win over Thompson. Piehl earned the win and another save, throwing four innings, and then the seventh. Thompson did have a chance to win the game with the bases loaded and nobody out in the last inning, but failed to score a run. Corban Potts had a two-RBI single and a double in the victory.

The winner-take-all game is set for Tuesday at 11 a.m., with coverage on Thunder County 98.3 FM and NewsDakota.com starting at 10:45 a.m.
