JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In June it was reported that during renovations, the foundation of the Alfred Dickey Library was crumbling.

During a Jamestown Committee meeting Tuesday, Library Director Joe Rector reported that they had addressed that issue and were back on track.

The renovations come as the library prepares itself for the Centennial Initiative in February 2019.

Rector says the original renovation cost was around $500,000. But, because of the unforeseen foundation work and the need to replace some cement flooring inside, the costs had grown.

Rector says they continue to seek funding for the renovations. He says they’ve been using savings over several years as well as the Jamestown Community Foundation and donations.

Work is expected to be completed this fall, but there is no solid completion date.

The official 100 year anniversary will be Presidents Day on February 18th, 2019.
