CITY (NewsDakota.com) Students from Litchville Marion High School participated in the bi-annual prom crash simulation event in Valley City along Winter Show Road on Tuesday.
Co-event coordinator April Hendrickson said the simulated crash is a useful tool to raise awareness and to persuade high school students to choose not to drink and drive.
Litchville Marion High School Senior Cassandra Fick said the simulation drew out a number of emotions for her and her classmates. She said even though it was a staged event it seemed real to see her classmates die and receive serious injures in the simulated crash.
About 8 students from Litchville Marion acted out the roll of teenagers in a crash following a post prom party where one of the students had consumed alcohol and caused the crash.
Students from Gackle, Streeter and Valley City also attended the post prom crash simulation on Tuesday in Valley City.
Litchville Marion High School prom is set for April 21 and Valley City High School prom is scheduled for April 28 in Valley City.
