ELLENDALE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The Oakes Post 36 American Legion baseball team scored one run in each inning of their contest Wednesday night, and ended up defeating Ellendale Post 137 4-1 Wednesday night in four innings.

Post 36 (6-4 Class B Southeast Region) only managed four hits, but capitalized on their opportunities off Easton Hagen. Post 137 (3-7) had a myriad of chances off of Taylor Schall, but stranded eight runners on base, including the bases loaded in the first two innings.

A steady rain started in the bottom of the first inning, and never relented, resulting in the game being called just before the start of the fifth inning.

Schall had a triple, and picked up his second win against Ellendale this year, allowing just a pair of hits while striking out five. Hagen surrendered four hits and four walks in the loss.

Both teams next compete in the Class B Southeast Region tournament at Townsend Field in LaMoure, starting Wednesday July 25. Coverage of the entire tournament will be on Q101.1 FM, The Tornado KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com.
