Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–Carrington Post 25 won a pair of games over the Owls of Nelson County 2-1 & 6-2. Payton Smith  drove in the game winning run with a walk-off single in the the bottom of the seventh inning in the first game of the doubleheader, scoring Lucas Geiszler from third base with 1 out and the bases loaded. Smith finished 2-2 and also walked twice. Geiszler was 2-4 and also picked up the victory on the mound, throwing all 7 innings allowing just 1 earned run, scattered 7 hits, walked 1 batter, hit 1 batter, and struck out 3 batters. Tyson Lee also went 2-3 at the plate for Post 25. Nelson County starting pitcher Damian Forde went 6 innings allowing 1 earned run, 5 hits, struck out 4, walked 4 batters, and hit 1 batter. Forde also went 3-3 at the plate driving in the Owls only run that plated Hunter Gibson in the first inning. Carrigton tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Seth Nelson base hit that scored Colton Buskness. Gibson also went 2-3 at the plate for the Owls.

Carrington won game 2 of the doubleheader 6-2 and improved to 20-6 overall on the season. Nelson County dropped to 24-11 overall. Carrington will travel to New Rockfordon Wednesday for it’s final Central Region game of the year against the Black Sox.
