KINDRED, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Kindred was able to capitalize on a string of defensive missteps in the 5th inning Wednesday to defeat Valley City 6-3 in southeast region action. Kindred won the non-region game 10-0 in 4 innings.
With a week left in the regular season, Valley City is 10-14 and 3-4 in the region, they play Enderlin Thursday at home.
Game 1: Kindred 6 vs. Valley City 3
Of Kindred’s 6 runs, 4 came of a direct result of Post 60’s defensive miscues. The dagger came in the bottom of the 5th with the game tied at 2. Kindred started the inning with back to back hits and put runners at second and third with nobody out. They then proceeded to score on a interference call on run down between third and home and consecutive errors on the same ground ball. In total Post 60 commited 5 errors.
Valley City starter Jacob Johnson took his first loss of the season pitching 5 innings. He gave up 2 earned runs on 7 hits with 7 punch outs. Nick Eggman went 1 2/3 of relief and was the winner.
Reese Huschka had 2 hits and an RBI. Corey Nelson and Briar Harvey both brought home runs. Trenton Duchscherer led Kindred, he was 3 for 4 with 3 stolen bases and an RBI.
Game 2: Kindred 10 vs. Valley City 0 (4 innings)
Kindred ended the game early with 9 runs over the final 2 innings. Corey Nelson had Valley City’s lone hit of the game. Brady Jawaski had 4 RBI for Kindred.
