JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For 70 years, the Jamestown Clowns have entertained hundreds of children.
They’ve also raised thousands of dollars that have helped some of those same children.
Known as the El Zagal Clowns, the non-profit has been in operation since 1948.
Nick Scherbenske says the money also goes towards the Children’s Hospital in Minnesota, the area’s local children’s hospital. He pointed out that the actual birthday of the Jamestown Clowns was June 14th.
Joel Lees says a birthday bash has been planned for this Friday at the Hansen Arts Park.
Lees says the event continues following the kid activities with a free concert from 7 to 10 featuring the Southwest Surfers, a Beach Boys and Oldies tribute band.
Richie Wolfe says they band is well-known for their covers of some great, classic hits.
Lees pointed out that they wanted to give back to the community for all the support they’ve been given for the last 70 years.
Food will also be available at the “Clown Cafe” for $7.
