N.D. (AP) – Three Minot Republican state lawmakers missed Friday’s deadline for filing the paperwork they needed to get on the ballot.

The oversight makes it much tougher for Senator Karen Kresbach and Representatives Matt Klein and Robert Frantsvog to run for re-election in November.

They’ll have to run a write-in campaign in the June 12th primary to qualify for the November ballot. If they don’t get enough write-in votes, they won’t be eligible.

Ward County Auditor Devra Smestad says the three candidates did not turn in sworn statements attesting that they wanted to be on the ballot. They also did not file personal financial disclosure statements.

Smestad says the affidavit and the statement of financial interests are required for candidates who want to be listed on the ballot.
