FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – An arrest warrant has been issued for a West Fargo woman accused of drowning her newborn baby.
36-year old Ginny Lubitz faces two felony counts of murder and attempted murder. Court documents say Lubitz placed her newborn child face down in about an inch of water in a bathtub to cause his death.
It happened May 5th at the home of a friend on Bluestem Court South, a townhouse development in Fargo.
Police say when they arrived they found Lubitz in the tub with a large amount of blood on the floor since she had just given birth. A friend who had found Lubitz in the bathroom told her they needed to call 9-1-1, but Lubitz said she couldn’t afford an ambulance and didn’t want them to see what she did.
An autopsy on the baby, completed the Medical Examiner at the University of North Dakota Medical School, indicated an apparent live birth. Toxicology testing indicated the child had “measurable levels of amphetamine and methamphetamine” with the cause of death ruled a drowning.
As of Wednesday morning, Lubitz was not yet in custody.
