OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- A nine run third inning by the Oakes Post 36 American Legion baseball team propelled them to a 16-3 victory in four and a half innings over Ellendale Post 137 Thursday night.

Post 36 (2-1 Class B Southeast Region) put up 10 hits in the third, and had hits from the first five batters in the inning, chasing Alex Sumption out after just two and two-thirds innings.

Oakes’ Taylor Schall earned the win, throwing four innings with eight strikeouts. Schall also had three hits and scored four times.

Laten Hagen had a two-RBI double for Post 137 (1-3) in the loss.
