CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A Valley City family escaped serious injury after a fire severely damaged their home Tuesday.

Fire chief Gary Retterath said flames were shooting out a window when crews arrived on the scene at 626 4th street southwest just before 5 o’clock Tuesday morning.

No injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The American Red Cross is assisting the family who were displaced due to this fire.
