The funeral service for Margaret L. Bubach, 98, Fargo, ND, formerly of Litchville, ND, will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Litchville. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, ND and will continue an hour prior to the service at the church Sunday afternoon.
Margaret Luella Taylor was born on September 6, 1914 in Verona, ND to Willard and Sarah (Nesby) Taylor. She attended school in Verona and was a member of the first graduating class of Verona High School in 1932. Following her graduation, she attended Valley City State Teachers College then taught at rural schools in LaMoure County.
On September 5, 1937, Margaret married Fred F. Bubach at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Litchville, ND. The couple made their home on the Bubach family farm. While helping on the farm and teaching in Verona and Litchville, she continued her schooling at Valley City State University, graduating at the age of 51 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. In 1976, they retired from farming.
Fred died on June 11, 1995. Margaret married Rev. Albert Mattheis on December 17, 1999. He died January 2, 2007. That fall, she moved to Fargo, ND. In June of 2013, she entered Maryhill Manor in Enderlin, ND.
Margaret was very active in church affairs in the state and local level. She belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church and was involved in WELCA and Circle. She was a Sunday School teacher and superintendent. Margaret was a 4-H Leader, served on the LaMoure County Historical Board, and belonged to Homemakers. In her spare time, she loved gardening and square dancing. In 1974, she was honored as Mother of the Year.
Margaret L. Bubach died at Maryhill Manor in Enderlin on July 11, 2013. She is survived by her children, Joan Bachman of West Fargo, ND and Robert (Faye) Bubach of Litchville; son-in-law, Myron (Creeta) Luttschwager of Grace City, ND; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter, Jean Luttschwager; sisters, Marie Jensen and Alma “Babe” Marriott; and brothers, Floyd and Robert Taylor.
