Joyce LaVerne McCleary, age 88 of Marion, ND died June 22, 2013 at Maryhill Manor in Enderlin, ND. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 AM Tuesday June 25, 2013 at the Marion Lutheran Church in Marion, ND with Rev. JoAnne Moeller officiating. Visitation will be Monday June 25th from 5:30 until 7 PM at the church with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services Tuesday. Interment will take place in the Marion Cemetery.

     Joyce was born June 21, 1925 to Perry and Josephine (Hanson) Peterson of Verona, ND. She attended Verona High School and graduated as Salutatorian of her class. After graduation she worked in Washington DC for the War Department and also Senator Milton Young.

     She returned to North Dakota and attended Interstate Business College where she met Bernard McCleary. Joyce and Bernard were married June 21, 1947 at Verona, ND and made their home on a farm near Marion, ND.

     Joyce kept busy raising her family, playing the accordion, and sewing. In 2007 she became a resident of Maryhill Manor in Enderlin, ND, where she received so much tenderand loving care.

     Joyce is survived by her children: Keith (Vione) McCleary, Marion, ND, Terry (Rachel) McCleary, Ashley, ND, Kenny (Monica) McCleary, Bismarck, ND, and LeAnn (Marty) Halvorson, Columbia, IL; two sisters, Doris Lomsdahl, Moorhead, MN and Ione Swanstrom, Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Perry and Josephine, husband Bernard, and a baby, Faye Joan McCleary.
