MANDAN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Bismarck Legacy scored five times in the first inning and never looked back on the way to a 13-3 win over Jamestown in an elimination game at the West Region Softball Tournament in Mandan.
Taryn Allmaras highlighted the inning with a two-run single that started the scoring. The Sabres added five more in the third, highlighted by Macee VanVleet’s two-run triple. MaKenzie Boone’s rbi single and Alexis Dressler’s two-run home run capped the scoring.
Jamestown got two runs back in the bottom of the first on Ella Roaldson’s two run home run scoring Olivia Nihill. But that would be as close as the Jays would get. Olivia Nihill would score again on Alex Nihill’s rbi fielder’s choice.
After giving up five hits and three runs in the first three innings, Legacy starter Tori Olson would retire eleven of the last 14 batters she faced. She did not allow a hit after the third inning.
Jamestown ends the season at 14-12. Four seniors wrapped up their careers on Friday. Kelsey Goter, Sydney Soulis, Olivia Nihill and Hannah Schiele.
Legacy improves to 9-19 and will play a state qualifying game Saturday at 11am versus the loser of Bismarck Century and Minot.
