JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Former Councilman, Mayor, friend and Jamestown supporter Charlie Kourjian has passed away.

Kourajian passed away on Saturday, May 19th at Sanford Hospital in Fargo. His son Steven posted the sad news to Facebook.

“My dad had to have emergency surgery on Tuesday and couldn’t breathe on his own after that. Things were complicated by pneumonia and fluid and air in the abdominal cavity, congestive heart failure and decreased kidney output. He couldn’t speak with a breathing tube so he wrote us quite a few notes. He was doing very well but things took a turn on Thursday for the worse. He was air ambulanced to Fargo and had a significant stroke during or after arriving at Sanford. Dad rallied for a while, recognized family and relatives yesterday afternoon and then went into slow decline while I was his “male nurse” during the night. Charlie went to be with the Lord this morning and joins many family and friends including his beloved Marcy. You couldn’t have found a better role model to follow and there wasn’t a person anywhere who poured more into his community. Farewell Dad and “Mr. Jamestown” we loved you and will miss you greatly.”

Kourajian recently celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary with his wife Marge on April 30th, 2018. He will be greatly missed.
