WAHPETON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The VCHS Hi-Liners made their way down to Wahpeton Tuesday evening for a pair of games with the Huskies. They would come away with a split of the games, taking game one by score of 8-5 while dropping the second game 8-1. The Hi-Liners record now sits at 1-7 in conference and 2-12 overall.
Next Actionis Thursday night in Valley City at Charlie Brown Field as they play host to West Fargo Sheyenne. Game time is 5pm.
Game 1 Valley City 8 vs. Wahpeton 5
VCHS would get a run in the top of the first to take a 1-0 and never trailed in the game. In the bottom of the first Wahpeton would get their run back tying the game 1-1.
It would stay that way till the top of 3rd when a triple by Devin Anderson would bring in 2 runs. Anderson would then score on ground out by Riley Gerhardt to take a 4-1 lead.
The Hi-Liners would add 1 more in the 4th with the Huskies answering with a run of their own. Three more runs by The Hi-Liners in the top of the 5th would help push lead to 8-2. VCHS would eventually hold on to a 8-5 win after giving up 3 runs in the last 2 innings.
Briar Harvey picked up the win for the Hi Liners. Harvey went 6.1 inning giving up 4 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits while walking 2 and striking out 9. Easton Hesch would finish up the game working .2 of inning giving up 1 run on 1 hit while walking 2.
At the plate The Hi-Liner offense came away with 8 hits in the contest. Anderson and Gerhardt led the way with 2 hits apiece. Gerhardt would lead the team by driving in 3 runs in the game.
Game 2 Wahpeton 8 vs. Valley City 1
The Hi Liners would once again come out and get a 1st inning run off a solo home run from Gerhardt, but that would be all the offense VCHS would have in the game. Wahpeton would get 2 runs in the first, a single run in the 2nd and 5 runs in the fourth to end the 8-1 win for the Huskies.
Gerhardt would go 2 for 2 in the game at the plate picking up the lone RBI in the game.
