FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Fargo North starting pitcher Gabby Olek struck out 13 and held Valley City to just 5 hits handing them their first loss of the season 5-2 Tuesday night in Fargo. The non-conference game was ended after just 4 innings due to rain, Valley City led 11-2.
The No.1 Hi-Liners are now 8-1 and 3-1 in The EDC while No.9 North improves to 5-2 in the region. Valley City will play the remainder of their season at home beginning Thursday with Davies.

Nothing seemed to go right for The Hi-Liners, they committed 9 errors compared to their 5 hits. Spartans starter Gabby Olek had complete control of the strike zone with 13 strike outs, she caught Valley City looking 6 time. Olek did not walk a batter.
Becca Thompson took the loss, she gave up 6 hits and 5 runs with 1 earned while walking 2 with 2 strike outs. Thompson had a strong game at the plate with a single, double and solo home run.
Sophie Samanko drove in 2 runs with 2 hits for Fargo North.
Valley City 11 vs. Fargo North 2 (4 innings)
The Hi-Liners came out with vengeance in game 2. They scored 3 runs in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd, a run in the 3rd and 5 in the 4th. In the bottom of 4th heavy ran rolled through the ball park and the game was ended early.
Grace Scherr was 3 for 3 and Kacee White, Becca Thompson and Lexi Ondracek all drove in 2 runs each. Hailey Schaefer pitched 3.2 innings with 7 strike outs.
