OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) After taking down one of the best in Class B Region I the previous night, the Oakes High baseball team was almost taken down by a team looking for their first win of the season against regional opposition Tuesday night at Cummings Field.

The Tornadoes had a 2-0 lead on Northern Cass, before seeing the Jaguars take the lead with a three spot in the fifth inning. In the end, Oakes rallied with a pair of runs in the seventh to win 4-3, improving the Tornadoes to 7-2 in the region, and sending the Jags to 0-11.

Taylor Schall earned the victory for Oakes, lasting all seven innings while striking out four. Northern Cass’ Wrigley Elston also threw seven innings and struck out four, but ended up with the loss,

The Jaguars’ regular season ends Thursday with a date in Fargo against Oak Grove. Oakes also plays on the road Thursday with a trip to Townsend Field in LaMoure to battle LaMoure-Litchville/Marion.
