The funeral service for Marjorie Sundstrom, 96, Jamestown, ND, formerly of Valley City, ND, will be Friday, May 4, 2018 in the Lerud-Schuldt-Mathias Funeral Home Chapel, Valley City at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be held there on Thursday from 5-7 PM. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, near Valley City.

Marjorie Bakke was born March 19, 1922 in Steele County, ND to Olaf and Ethel (Battles) Bakke. She received her education in a country school in Steele County and she attended school in both Hope and Luverne, ND. As a young woman, she worked for area families as a nanny and housekeeper.

On November 26, 1941, she married Ben Sundstrom in Moorhead, MN. Ben served in the US Army. Following his discharge, they made their home and farmed near Oriska, ND. They retired in 1985, but continued to live on the farm. Ben passed away in 1988.

Eventually, Marjorie moved to Valley City and in 2007, she moved to Jamestown, ND.
Marjorie was a member of the Minnie Lake Ladies Aid and Elim Evangelical Free Church. She was a huge supporter of her children’s 4H projects. Her vegetable and flower gardens were second to none. Along with everything that goes with being a farm wife and mother, she had a passion for quilting and enjoyed crochet and cross-stitch.

Marjorie Sundstrom passed away at Sanford on Broadway in Fargo, ND on April 30, 2018. She is survived by her children, Carol Vadnie of Orlando, FL, Gordon (Pam) Sundstrom of Colorado Springs, CO, and Deb (David) Steele of Jamestown, ND; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, all of her siblings and her son, Jerrold.
