VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Public School District named Nancy Ost as the 2018 Teacher of the Year.

Superintendent Josh Johnson said, Ost, is a 1st grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary and was selected for this honor because of her strengths, leadership, and relationships that she has developed with students, teachers, and parents at Jefferson Elementary, and classroom.

Principal Troy Miller said, “Mrs. Ost does an amazing job of building a positive relationship with her students and their families.  She provides students with the structure and individualized instruction that they need to be successful.  In addition to this she has the unique ability to make learning fun and exciting for students on a daily basis!”

Ost has been teaching at Valley City Public Schools for 20 years. Nancy becomes the 39th educator since 1982 to be named the Teacher of the Year. Nancy and her husband Tim have 3 children, Tiffany, Kellie, and Shane and four wonderful grandchildren.

Nancy Ost will receive her award as the Valley City Public Schools Teacher of the Year on Wednesday, May 9th at 5:00pm in the Hi-Liner Activity Center during the annual Valley City Public School District Celebration of Achievement and Excellence program.
