VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Two years ago, the family of Andrew Sadek brought a civil lawsuit against law enforcement in the death of their son. The trial has been pushed back.
Sadek was found dead in the Red River with a gunshot wound to the head in the summer of 2014. At the time, he was working as a confidential drug informant for law enforcement while he was a student at the North Dakota College of Science in Wahpeton.
Two years ago, Sadek’s parents filed a lawsuit against Richland County claiming wrongful death. The trial date was set for April 20th was canceled in a hearing in Valley City on April 9th.
An attorney for the family says the school, law enforcement and other agencies are refusing to give attorney’s documents they need before the trial. No details about the documents were released.
On Monday, April 9th, Judge Jay Schmitz ruled the attorneys representing the Sadek family should have access to those documents. A new trial date will be set later.
