BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It may officially be spring, but it’ll be a bit longer before the weather concedes.
The Bismarck National Weather Service is reporting that heavy, wet snow will be striking the region beginning Thursday night and continuing through Friday night. Meteorologist Patrick Ayd says the impact will mainly be in the northwest and central parts of North Dakota.
The system will bring with it a potential of wind and 4 inches of snow around the areas of the Turtle Mountains and James River Valley. Mostly rain is expected around the southwest with minimal snow accumulation.
Snow may mix with rain midday Friday across the Missouri River Valley. The NWS says the heavy, wet snow may down power lines and create difficult travel conditions. Ayd says the storm will also be threatening for many newborn calves.
