FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Region 1’s top teams are the last two standing after Thursday night’s semifinals. No.1 seed Kindred beat No.5 seed Oak Grove 56-41. No.2 seed Lisbon came back to beat No.3 Central Cass 58-51.
The Vikings and Broncos will play for The Region 1 title and a trip to state Friday night at The SHAC. The two teams met back on January 4th with Kindred edging out Lisbon 61-56.
Central Cass and Oak Grove will play for 3rd place beginning at 6. The championship game will follow at 7:30. You can hear Lisbon and Kindred on 103.1 The Raven and NewsDakota.com
No.1 Kindred 56 vs. No.5 Oak Grove 41
The defending state champions got a big night from Abby Duchscherer. The 8th grader scored 27 points for The Vikings.
The teams played to a 12 point tie at the end of the first quarter. Kindred outscored The Grovers 16-8 in the 2nd quarter to created some separation. They would go into the 4th quarter up 46-35.
Oak Grove was led by Kelyn Johnson’s 10 points.
No.2 Lisbon 58 vs. No.3 Central Cass 51
The Broncos responded with a big offensive charge in the 4th quarter to move on to the championship. They trailed 42-38 and out scored The Squirrels 20-9 for the win.
Karly Schultz from Lisbon and Madison Sweep from Central Cass both scored 15 on the night. The Broncos also had 12 points from Elizabeth Lyons and 11 from Kaitlin Geyer.
