BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Bismarck scored two goals 2:31 apart in the second period and Austin Martin did the rest as the Demons slipped past Jamestown 2-0 in boys hockey Tuesday night in Bismarck.

Darin Sardelli scored his team leading 14th of the season 1:52 into the second period on a deflection off a shot by Dayton Deics from the point. Caleb Petrie added his 13th of the season on a when he slipped the puck past Blue Jay netminder Matthew Schneider with 4:23 to go in the period. The goal was allowed after a discussion by the officials as to whether or not there was interference on the Demons during a scrum out in front of the net. They decided there was not and the score stood.

The Demons out shot Jamestown 53-19. Matthew Schneider stopped 51 shots for the Jays.

Blue Jay head coach Matt Stockert says Matthew played well tonight, but give credit to his teammates for helping out.

Senior Austin Martin made 19 saves or his 6th shutout of the season and lowered his Goals Against Average to 0.90.

The Jays fall to 11-9 on the season and Bismarck improves to 15-6. This was the regular season finale for both teams. Jamestown will play Dickinson next Thursday in the West Region tournament in Minot as either the fourth seed or fifth seed. Coach Stockert says if they play next week the way they played tonight, their season could continue another week.

Bismarck will be the second seed at the West Region and will play either Mandan or Williston in the first round.
