YPSILANTI, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A man is dead after striking three horses standing in the roadway west of Ypsilanti early Saturday morning.

Cruz Schumacher, 24, of Jamestown was traveling west on County Road 38 at around 4:59 AM when he came across the horses, striking three and fatally injuring them. This caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and crash into a semi trailer parked in a private lot just off the roadway.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Jamestown Area Ambulance, and Jamestown Fire Department.
