N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Retirement could cause one of the areas longest running businesses to close its doors this year.

Richard Doerr is the owner and proprietor of Richard’s Jewelry & Clock Repair. He took over the family business after his dad and brother stepped away from it.

Doerr says it wasn’t his intentions to do it for a living, but found himself enjoying the work.

Now in 2018, he’s looking to step away. With retirement planned for the end of February, Doerr has set out to look for someone to possibly take up the business.

Doerr says its sad that his trade has become somewhat of a lost art. And he says that’s not just for his line of work. It’s become a similar theme in other skilled positions in the area.
