N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Hannah Peterson had the hat trick and Mandan extended its winning streak over Jamestown to eight with a 4-1 win Thursday night at John L. Wilson Arena.
Peterson scored two goals in the first period, 2:11 apart, to give the Braves the 2-0 lead. But Jamestown would cut the lead to one on Kylie Mitchell’s third goal of the season 1:21 later.
But that would be as close as the Jays would get as Autumn Sheetz stopped 25 shots for the Braves. Erin Anderson had 28 saves for Jamestown.
Peterson would score her third goal of the game and fifth of the year midway through the second period. Justyne Melhoff would finish the scoring with her third of the year late in the second period.
Jamestown coach Andy Fitzgerald says Mandan was the better team tonight.
The Jays fall to 2-9 overall and will travel to Dickinson on Saturday afternoon.
