JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown now has a new website.
Earlier this month, the city approved a website redesign after their previous website had been shut down. A proposal by Josh Smaage was approved and he began working on it right away.
“I’m still working on a few things such as adding more pages/content, and that will probably continue for the next week or so before I can say it’s 100% complete,” Smaage told NewsDakota.
The website was moved to a more robust platform, making it easier to use than the previous website for employees and city residents. It is also now mobile-user friendly. Smaage says the original site design lacked that ability.
“I would say the biggest change or feature added was making the site responsive to a variety of devices. Whether the end-user is viewing the website from a mobile device, tablet, laptop or PC the site will now display correctly according to the width of each devices screen/resolution,” he stated.
On the new site, the main menu is at the top to make it easier for access to the users. Smaage has also included a better search feature for the website. As far as posting Public Notices, Council Agendas and meeting minutes, he’s simplified that process too.
“The new back-end interface will be much easier to use than the previous system and should increase employee productivity in the sense it will take less effort to get information posted,” he pointed out.
Smaage says web design is something he enjoys doing as a side job. He says other governments or local business could contact him with any inquiries at smaage@daktel.com.
