N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—– Eighth rated Medina-Pingree-Buchanon (MPB) defeated fifth rated Carrington 49-44 in OT and ninth rated Edgely-Kulm-Montpeiler (EKM) held off Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter 53-46 to advance to the 2017 Stutsman County championship game.

Consolation Semifinal

South Border Mustangs  55     Midkota Mustangs  36

Katie Schmidt had a game high 23 points including 7 three pointers to lead  South Border  over the Midkota in the battle of the Mustangs. Faith Dockter added 19 points and a game high 6 steals for South Border. Emily St. Aubin grabbed a game high 9 rebounds also for South Border. Brenna Anderson paced Midkota with 12 points and 3 assists. Mariah Topp led Midkota with 8 rebounds. Midkota falls to 0-4 on the season and South Border improved to 1-3 overall.

Ellendale Cardinals 43     Warwick Lady Warriors  42

Ellendale outscored Warwick 11-4 in the fourth quarter for a 43-42 come from behind win. Macy Young and Katelyn Dathe paced the Cardinals with 13 points each. Young also added a game high 8 steals. Alyssa Nishek grabbed 8 rebounds to lead the Cards. Madison Leaf led Warwick with a game high 23 points and 14 rebounds. Warwick drpped to 1-4 overall and Ellendale improved to 3-1 on the season.

Semifinal

MPB Thunder  49     Carrington  44  OT

Two top ten rated teams battled in the first semifinal with #8 MPB outscoring #5 Carrington 9-4 in the overtime session to win 49-44 and remain unbeaten at 4-0. The game was tied at 21-21 at halftime and 40-40 at the end of regulation. Jadyn Pollert gave the Thunder a big boost off the bench scoring a team 10 points along with Amanda Allen. Megan Moser added 9 points for the Thunder. Moser added a team high 7 rebounds sharing that honor with older sister Lauren Moser who also added 7 rebounds. Carrington was paced by Emerson Hoornaert’s game high 13 points and 9 rebounds. Bella Hone added 7 rebounds and 6 points off the bench for the Cards. Carrington shot just 25% from the field (13-52). Carrington fell to 2-1 overall.

EKM Rebels  53     N-GS Imperials  46

The Imperials gave the #9 ranked Rebels a scare but couldn’t pull off the upset falling 53-46. Katie Entzi had a game high 17 points to pace the Rebels victory. Entzi added 8 rebounds, and a game high 4 blocked shots and 3 steals. Kaitlyn Schiele added 16 points and Haley Olson grabbed a game high 13 rebounds to aid the Rebel win. Bailey Heflin scored 16 points to pace the Imperials offensively and Mackenzie Heflin added 12 points and six rebounds. EKM improved to 4-0 and N-GS fell to 1-3.

Tournament action will finish on Saturday with Warwick (1-4) facing Midkota (0-4) in the 7th place game starting at 2:00. The 5th place game will have Ellendale (3-1) against South Border (1-3) at 3:30, 3rd place game will have Carrington (2-1) versus N-GS (1-3) at 5:00, and the title game starting at 6:30 with MPB (4-0), versus EKM (4-0).
