LAKE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The 2017 Class B Lake Region Girls Basketball Tourney kicked off yesterday at the Devils Lake Sports Center with four games. Day two will start Friday at 3pm with two consolation games and then at 6pm tonight, the two semifinal games. The Bearcats are the two-time defending champs and have moved into the second semifinal tonight against Four Winds/Minnewaukan. Here are yesterday’s results.
Devils Lake JV 63 Carrington JV 43
Jailyn Martinson scored 18 points and Abby Heilman added 14 to help the Devils Lake Junior Varsity defeat the Cardinals Junior Varsity by 20 points in the first game on Thursday. For Carrington, Kiera Eli had nine points, Cassidy Neuman with eight, Marah Schmitz with seven, Bella Hone with six points and Addison Hoornaert with five.
Dunseith 53 Benson County 47
Journey Anjure had 16 points and Bryghton Peltier added 15 as Dunseith advances to the semifinal round on Friday night. For BC, Dani Schwanke led all scorers with 21 points.
Four Winds/Minnewaukan 73 Lakota 26
Latasha Bellile scored a game high 17 points to help the Indians of FWM win their first round game and move into the second semifinal on Friday night against North Star. For Lakota, Stephanie Bartlett led the way with 10 points.
North Star 64 Dakota Prairie 39
Stephanie Miller of North Star had a game high 30 points, including two 3-pointers to help the Bearcats defeat the Knights in the last game on Thursday. For DP, Carly Lippert had 18 points, including six 3-pointers.

430pm – Lakota vs. Dakota Prairie
6pm – Devils Lake JV vs. Dunseith (semifinal)
730pm – Four Winds/Minn. vs. North Star (semifinal)
The third and final day will start at 1pm on Saturday, December 2nd with the seventh place contest, the championship is scheduled for 5:30pm.
