CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)-The lone senior on the field for Valley City High School football received all state honors this week. The NDHSCA selected Luther Zeltinger as a member of The AA All State 2nd Team.
This season Zeltinger had strong production on the field but also provided leadership to a young Hi-Liner team. On defense he recorded 51 tackles and forced fumbled. He was the team’s lead rusher producing 623 yards and 4 touchdowns while adding 10 receptions for 109 yards and touchdown.
In Valley City’s season opener Zeltinger returned a kick off 87 yards for The Hi-Liners first points of the year; he’d scored on another kick return against Grafton. Overall he had 22 returns for 478 yards.
Head Coach Scott Roehrich says the senior gave everything he had to the team during his 4 years.
Zeltinger and fellow senior Sam Ihry both found the end zone in the team’s last game at home this season. Valley City ended the year with an 0-9 mark.
